Sitting in a hollow metal tube, soaring at 27000 feet with my daughter
Georgia having just spilt hot chocolate on my lap has made me think!
Luke 6:38 says "Give and it will be given to you, a good measure,
pressed down, shaken together and poured out in your lap". The current
experience of wiping the hot chocolate off my trousers (bearing in
mind that as soon as I land in liverpool we have to drive to
Manchester so I can host the !Audacious Academy graduation) was not a
pleasant one.
After momentarily being cross at my daughter, I was reminded from Luke
6 that God's blessing is equally messy. Sometimes, we expect that that
which God offers to be prim, proper, neat and tidy. In fact, bible
examples are the complete opposite. Moses, Gideon, Joshua , Esther,
Ezekiel, Paul, Peter were all blessed - but when it's poured into your
lap- it's messy.
Whatever you are looking for, remember - bless is mess!
Here's hoping you are a mess! Here's believing you are blessed. And
here is praying that people don't notice the hot chocolate stain on my
trousers tonight!
